Special projects manager
Jessica Day is a science communications specialist and accomplished project management professional with experience in sustainable agriculture, wildlife science, genetics, plant breeding, and secondary and higher education. She relocated from Seattle to join Clemson University in 2019 and is primarily responsible for managing all aspects of two federally-funded agricultural research projects totaling $17+ million, along with serving administrative management capacities for the Innovation Lab for Crop Improvement. Jessica uses strategic project management techniques to ensure science milestones and project budgets are on target, stakeholders and collaborators are effectively utilized, and project sponsors receive regular progress reports.
Jessica has a B.S. in Animal Ecology from Iowa State and M.S. in Wildlife Science from Texas Tech University, and currently holds certifications in both professional project management (PMP) and secondary science teaching in South Carolina. She enjoys merging her backgrounds in science and teaching, which leads her to take on other communications responsibilities such as creation and management of websites and social media platforms, development of educational resources, and carrying out training and outreach events.
