Alexander Kena is a postdoc and research scholar at the Morris Lab based at Colorado State University. His role comprises conducting collaborative research and development for trait discovery; leading training opportunities and training tool development on the scientific method; and coordinating the trait discovery program for sorghum at the Innovation Lab for Crop Improvement. He is also involved with the ARTEMIS project which seeks to develop appropriate high-throughput phenotyping technologies to accelerate genetic gain in cowpea and sorghum.

Alex has previously co-led crop improvement programs in maize, cowpea, and millet in Ghana, west Africa. He was a lecturer of plant breeding and genetics in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana.

He holds a BS in Agriculture from KNUST—Kumasi, MS in Agronomy (Plant Breeding option) from University of Ibadan, and PhD in Plant Science from South Dakota State University. He is also a graduate of the UC Davis African Plant Breeding Academy.
