Clara Cruet-Burgos is a postdoctoral researcher at the Crop Adaptation Lab in Colorado State University. Her research focuses on connecting knowledge on metabolic pathways to agronomically important traits to develop tools that accelerate breeding efforts. As a part of ILCI’s Trait Discovery team, Clara works with Centers of Innovation to identify or develop germplasm through genetics that go beyond yield, so that they can provide better nutrition and adaptation to their growing environments.
Her previous work has focused on sorghum vitamin A biofortification and resistance to anthracnosis. Clara’s background is in biotechnology, genetics, genomics and breeding. Clara holds a BS in Industrial Biotechnology from University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez, an MS in Biology from University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez and a Ph.D. in Horticulture from Colorado State University.
