In our efforts to support national breeding programs, we are committed to building a more equitable and just world - for every race, ethnicity, sex, religion, gender identity or sexual orientation - through thoughtful action and collaboration in crop improvement.
Our commitment
Diversity, inclusion and equity are central to any meaningful scientific and social enterprise. Crop improvement does not happen in a vacuum and is not immune from the social issues prevalent in our daily lives. The violence and discrimination that has become more visible in recent months remind us of the systemic discrimination and racial injustice faced by Black individuals in the United States not only today, but for generations.
Systemic oppression of any group, be it for their race, ethnicity, sex, religion, gender identity or sexual orientation, is unacceptable. As an international project with work spanning continents, we must resist discrimination and oppression anywhere it exists, in the United States and around the world, recognizing that these issues surface in unique ways in each country and culture.
We are committed to building a more equitable and just world through thoughtful action and collaboration. The talents, ideas and innovations of all people make the goal to end world hunger possible.
We will confront racism in all areas of our work, and we hope that you will join us. We will work to amplify unheard and stifled voices and foster thriving, diverse cultures in our U.S. institutions and all initiatives for international development and crop breeding.
